He says that God never intended him to be a preacher to the rich, because God ever kept him dependent on His providence; nor did He intend him as a preacher to Pharisees, because God gave him such a humbling sight and sense of his own wretched depravity. But he was called to preach Jesus as the eternal God that hears and answers prayer, and that he must preach faith in Him, for by it God kept him dependent on Himself for all spiritual and temporal supplies.
