Francis Hews was one Particular Baptist minister in Bedfordshire uninfluenced by Andrew Fuller. Some of his experience is here recounted by him. "I laboured for a long time under very perplexing exercises of mind about publishing the dealings of the Almighty with my soul; but was so followed with scripture, working of conscience, leadings in prayer, and such things from the Lord respecting the matter, that brought me at length to take pen in hand. That it may be for the benefit of the souls of His people, and His honour and glory, is my desire and object."
