It is desired that the reading of these meditations may raise the thoughts of the reader to dwell on the most sublime of all subjects - the death of our Redeemer and Saviour on behalf of sinners, that they may draw comfort and strength from their suffering Lord.
Taken from Hawker's "The Poor Man's Morning and Evening Portions" and reordered and grouped together in general themes, they direct us to Christ in his humiliation, his sufferings in Gethsemane and Calvary, through to his triumphant resurrection, and the benefits which flow to sinners from his death.
